Murray Gallant

Murray Gallant Folk Artist Murray lives in New Waterford, Cape Breton.  He has worked as a coal miner and in local public works. He is now retired and spends time carving, playing the fiddle, and composing music. His grandfather built windmills and taught Murray all about carving.  One of Murray's earliest pieces was of a coal miner and it now rests in the permanent collection of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Murray's art work can also be seen at Cape Breton University and the Beaverbrook Gallery in Fredericton, New Brunswick.  (for more about Murray check our Ramblings Page)
