Jim Tracey, Folk Art

Jim Tracey

Jim started carving at a young age and began full time carving when the gypsum company he worked for closed. He would display his works in front of his house or near arts & crafts festivals when the opportunity arose. Garnet MacPhail, one of the original founders of the Lunenburg Folk Art Festival, discovered Jim's works one day and persuaded him to join the festival.  Jim has been showing at the festival every year since 2005. His quirky sense of humour and love of colour can be found in each of his pieces.  He likes to use reclaimed wood and other material in his works.  His main goal with his art is to make people smile.  Jim lives in Falmouth, Nova Scotia, on the banks of the Bay of Fundy.
