The Concordia Title - Concordia     Artist - Calvin Woodworth

Description - Acrylic painting on a carved wooden board with a rope frame. The ocean waves are highlighted by the chiseled wood surface.  This boat was used as a student training ship by Class Afloat which operated out of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. On February 7, 2010 the Concordia was on a training voyage around the world when it keeled over and sank during a squall off the coast of Brazil. All 64 students & staff made it safely to lifeboats and were rescued after drifting at sea for two days. Previously, the ship had a 20 year history of successful sailing.  (Click on picture to see a larger view of the ship)
